Don't call it a come-back...

...I've never been here before.
My first win at a Hold-'em tourney was at Fat Dawgs in Forney. There were only ten of us playing but a win is a win. I had the extreme pleasure of giving my little brother a bad beat on the second or third hand of the night when I went all-in on the flop with the nut flush Ac-Kc and he called with Qc-Jc. That gave me such a chip lead that I could afford to make some questionable calls to see lots of flops. We started with two tables but went to one with five players. The chip lead went around the table a few times. I got lucky all game with some great hole cards and matching flops. In the end at heads-up I was second to act and my opponent went all-in. I had him out-chipped maybe 4-1 so a call and loss wouldn't kill me, plus I had two paint cards, so I called. He had a pair of sevens against my Q-J off-suit. The flop came Q-X-X and the turn and river didn't hit for him. Oh the sweet taste of victory! For all my patience and less than 2 hours time I was awarded a $25 gift certificate for Fat Dawgs. If you read the not-so-fine-print on the gift certificate you will discover that it is not valid for the purchase of alcohol or gratuity.
This particular bar/grill is known for its hot-dogs which I used to love tremendously. Alas, I am a recently renewed vegeterian and their nachos and fried cheese aren't that special. I will probably use the $25 on buying dinner on the way home for my carnivorous family. Unless there is finer print forbidding to-go orders!

POKER

I would consider myself a poker buff. I enjoy poker. I like to play, watch, listen to and read about poker.
I had no idea the World Series of Poker was currently under way in Las Vegas. Not only that but it's about half way through. I never really paid too much attention to the World Series other than watching it on ESPN. When it is televised most of what you see is Hold'em and that's all I really assumed they did. I just found out they play a ton of variety of poker games and a lot of them are extremely "tricked-up". Have you ever heard of H.O.R.S.E. poker? What about Omaha? Or Razz? Try adding a high-low split 8 or better.
I think I need to play more poker!
(and I need a sugar momma to bankroll my buy-ins)

There and back again.

There have been many wondrous and fascinating events occur since my last post. However, I can't remember any of them so I will only muse about the ordinary stuff. There have been two very important new members added to our family. We are the proud and honored foster parents of two siblings, a two year old boy and an eight year old girl. Although our first excursion into foster parenting ended with less than optimal results, we were never discouraged to the point that we would give up fulfilling what we feel called to do. Our new children are considered long-term placements and we are working hard to incorporate them into our family and to adjust our family to them. I may occasionally post photos of them but I feel I should not use their actual names due to issues I will not discuss.
